Confirmation
Requirements for Confirmation:
Participation
The program runs from September to June each year to match the school year. Children 13 years and older may join the confirmation class. They must be catholic and desirous of being confirmed. They attend structured classes for 2 years, one hour each Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. They are given a textbook, a catechism and must have a bible. We try to make the classes interesting and relevant to the students’ reality. Students in the program must engage in some form of community work. They visit either a Senior Citizen’s home or a Children’s Home during the course of the year. They must also adopt a senior in the church community and give of their time and talent to that person. The course demands a renewal of baptismal vows, retreat, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, scrutiny and participation in the Mass on the Fourth Sunday of every month. At fifteen years or after two years the candidates are confirmed by the Bishop. All it takes to join is a copy of your baptismal certificate and a contribution to the books given. If you are not a Catholic upon joining, you can be received or baptized, whichever is necessary. Persons older than 16 years are usually referred to the Priest for adult classes. |
