Dear Brothers & Sisters,
“... After saying this, he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit...”
Today, Pentecost Sunday, let us rejoice, let’s sing for joy. God in his generous love and mercy gave his disciples the gift of himself in and through his Holy Spirit. On that first Pentecost, he fulfilled his promise that he would send the Holy Spirit. This and every Pentecost he does the same thing anew. I say anew because he gives his spirit at conception, baptism and the other Sacraments. But he gives it in a new way at Pentecost when he says to those of us who, in faith, do give him our lives, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
Note that that is pure gift. We do not merit it. The Holy Spirit is God’s love-gift to all who are open to receive that precious gift. This Pentecost, let us welcome that gift. Let us welcome that love-gift of the Holy Spirit.
Sing:
Welcome Holy Spirit
Be here with your presence.
Fill me with your power,
Live inside of me. X2
You’re the living water
Never drying fountain
Comforter and Counselor
Take complete control.
Repeat: Welcome Holy Spirit...
May you have a spiritual Pentecost.
Affectionately,
Fr Clement Paul,
Parish Priest.
